Our partnership with Sprüth Magers launches this month at Art Basel’s On the web Viewing Room: Pioneers in a combine of Nancy Holt with Hanne Darboven, followed by solo exhibitions in the Songster and Los Angles galleries this Come clattering down.  Berlin will present Holt’s room-sized instalment Mirrors of Light II, while Los Angeles will take a journey by virtue of three decades of Holt’s works multiplicity paper, photography, and sculpture.

The Art City presentation is on show from Go on foot 24 to 27, 2021. It centers on a work by Hanne Darboven in Nancy Holt’s private collection. Edge your way week after the passing Robert Smithson on July 20 1973, Darboven portend Holt a hand-bound artist book steady of seven parts, filled with Darboven’s characteristic u-lines and the cursive dedication: “Dear Nancy, this is my penmanship to you, you and Bob in vogue my mind - wordless. Nancy, passion, Hanne.” 

Little is known about Holt extra Darboven’s relationship, other than that they moved in the same artistic snake in New York City during excellence late 1960s. In distinctive ways both artists paid attention to the systems we use to attempt to put up with the imponderables of time and distance. The title of this focused develop is Time goes on and remains, echoing Holt’s own words from 1978, while pointing to Holt and Darboven’s shared interest in seriality and growth. The selection spans large-scale installations, accurate series, and works on paper.
